Great article on game dev woes
This great
article by
Jason Della Rocca, the tireless Executive Director of the International Game Developers Association just came out. It had a link to AGD which explained the big spike of page views on the same day it was published! We all pay attention to what Jason has to say.

I once upon a time wanted to be a professional game developer but after reading so many articles and hearing from people about how bad many of the companies can be with their employees, I've become much more skeptical about entering the field.
It's not that bad. I started in the defense industry and experienced more brutal conditions (crunch, bad management, etc).. Plus I worked on some projects that really weren't interesting. Bottom line is that if you create new products in any industry, there is uncertainty. This leads to problems when you try to plan as if there was certainty. This leads to all the problems you hear about in game dev today. Agile was first applied in this country to defense projects for a reason.
The game dev industy is still a great place to work. The products you make are fun to make. Selling to millions of customers is a blast, salaries are very competitive (I don't know where he got that info that we're underpaid) and most of all the people you work with are great. We need to tweak some of the project management and biz practices.

These are real, genuine, They are verifiable and student records and
transcripts are also available. This little known secret has been
kept quiet for years. The opportunity exists due to a legal loophole
allowing some established colleges to award degrees at their discretion.

be surprised to see this loophole closed very soon
